"Public School Travesty"---We did it to ourselves...

Welcome to the Front Porch!! If we're going to successfully change things for the better, we need to take responsibility for the past. The disgraceful tragedy occurring in public schools is not something that can be blamed on lefties, indigents, and unions.

Once Americans accepted "everyone should be educated to the extent of their capacity," and it should be state-funded, that made it OK to loot the property of some neighbors to 'educate' the children of others. The reasoning seemed adequate, but it was infected with the seed of its own demise.

The rationale was "we all want and benefit from" an educated population. It was said it's the difference that makes us 'competitive globally." (Despite the forgotten historical fact that there was little mandatory funding of schools in the country's first 100 years.) Public Education became the sacrosanct white elephant of American culture.

This enthrallment with compulsory support of public schools was not thwarted at all by the the precipitous decline and dumbing down of American youth. The answer always was that "more money" would fix everything.

Like any other public institution, state education benefits poltical insiders, corrupt business, and other interest groups except the group for whom it was intended.

The situation today is such a morbid failure, tragic waste of resources and human time and energy, that those who can are 'doubling up' on the expense, time and energy and removing their kids from the maw of the public monster that's killing self-reliance, curiosity and problem solving abilities for millions. Do-it-yourself family education and private schooling have grown from a cottage industry to one of the most popular means of preparing one's family for the future. It's a matter of choice: disabling one's kids by the lethal indoctrination of public schooling, presumably at the expense of someone else, or taking responsibility and doing the right thing by our families at the added expense to ourselves. For the non-brain-dead capable of spending the extra, the choice is an easy one.

Meanwhile, what goes around has come around in the public schools. The institution founded on the belief that good intentions make thievery OK, has hit a wall...

Back when it was started, the state school system was firmly in control of one culture, ostensibly American in spirit and generally wholesome in intent from a Judeo-Christian perspective. It never occurred that someone else with more power would come along and change the curriculum and culture inside the schools. Surprise, surprise. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Ther's a new sheriff in town and he has a posse of ACLU'ers, diverse religious factions, communists covertly and overtly dedicated to destroying America as "we" know it. "God", "Christmas", math, language and reasoning skills have vanished. The priorities are making 'good citizens, commie style.

While the futures of our families go up in flames, those who haven't questioned the quicksand on which "public education" was built, compulsory funding, are fighting an expepensive, futile rear-guard action ro save "our educational system." I have news. It never was "ours," it was stolen. And it merely reflects the fruits of short-term thinking and rationalization that justifies pushing our hands deep into the pockets of our neighbors.

Stop paying the Piper. Stop wasting resources fighting for a fatally flawed concept and restore integrity by allowing the free market,including voluntary charity, to educate the next generation. Probably at a third of the cost. Be part of the solution, not part of continuing the problem until we swirl down the maelstrom to join other great civilizations...

Behind the scenes, it ain't about the kids---it's about power and money. And the system, as the Left would say, needs to collapse of its own disgraceful, evil, futility. Meanwhile, let's FedEx ourselves out of this morass and stay a safe and less taxing distance away from the coming implosion.
