Welcome to the Front Porch, for some bite-sized chatter candy...like a box o'chocklits
----Not that it would matter much, since it would be mostly disinformation and propaganda, but it is mildly interesting that the politicians 'found' some money they could save to give to the 'teachers' (unions). "Niche" education projects, involving US history and the Constitution were deemed 'unnecessary'. Talk about overkill. Then there was one other category of "niche" non-essentials: personal finance training. Think at one time it was called 'home economics'. You know, stuff of little import like balancing a checkbook...Seriously. I am not making this up!!
----2 weeks to the big extravaganza in DC. If you pray, do so for the attendees. And presenters. This could be the biggest "non-war" moment in US history. And the bad guys are quaking in their shoes. I really appreciate Beck's street instincts---"leave your signs at home"---brilliant!!
----If you haven't read Dave Barry, and you could use a bag of laughs, grab a copy of DAVE BARRY TURNS 40. On top of being one of the funniest guys of his era, he's also libertarian and wears it well....
----There's a whole bunch of good but naive folks out there that think polticians keep repeating 'mistakes' because they are ignorant or misguided. Let's shake 'em up!! When a pit viper keeps biting, it's time to accept that we have a problem at work with something far more sinister than stupidity here. At least the snake doesn't pretend to be serving our interests. There's the puffery for public consumption, but they are getting what they really want---power and pelf. (Waited 45 years to use 'pelf' in a sentence---hope you're suitably wowed....!)
----Speaking of public purposes and covert intentions, if you haven't availed yourself of reading Lysander Spooner's NO TREASON---The Constitutionof No Authority you can find the entire text online. http://jim.com/treason.htm
Fascinating how prescient and logical people used to be before the 'educational' system took hold. See what this libertarian abolitionist had to say about the true causes of the Civil War, and why politicians are lower than highwaymen.
----Sometimes good things, including miracles, spoil us. We expect them all the time. George Washington, for example. It's time we stopped looking for another George, and looked inside ourselves for answers.
----Does anyone out there, whom you know, really think Progressives have "new ideas"?
----A new refreshing face: Judge Napolitano on FOX Biz News. Lots of energy, straight talk, no mush. 9PM EDT this week...also regularly on weekends.
----Did the person who first planted wheat, nutured it, and figured out how to make it into bread steal the bread from those who didn't?
----If you're "responsible" for something your ancestors MAY have done 200 years ago, who's responsible for your 'bad' deeds today?
----Should some of us be getting reparations for Gettysburg?
