How Lying and Distortion Undo Tyranny

Today, we're not talking to the ignorant. We're talking to each other. Those of us who have at least a partial grip on reality. We don't have to dumb down to have this discussion!!! We are breathing some common sense fresh air.

There's been a lot of analysis recently about how freedom has, within, its own seeds of self-destruction. Succinctly, freedom leads to prosperity, and ultimately a sense of laziness and self-entitlement in succeeding generations that wipes Rome off the map. The disciplines and vigilance that were required for freedom to lift us from Dark Ages are ignored, forgotten, and in some of the rottenest cultures, including within our own borders, mocked and deplored.

I am optimistic that, because of some heroic efforts and an unprecedented, massive, awakening in our culture, we may, for once, reverse this process prior to our total undoing.

And this coincides with another, perhaps less examined, phenomenon, of equal consequence. This double-barreled blow of good news should be very heartening to us all. The second 'barrel' is about the inevitable self-destruction of tyrannical regimes. And we don't have to lift a finger...

It's not about us. It's about them: the folks whose political agenda requires untruthful, inaccurate representations of facts and responses to new events over prolonged periods of time. We see it in tyrants of all colors: Communists, socialists, 'Progressives', military, political, academic, communications, bureaucrats, race-baiters, lackeys, the indolent, and the pathetic dependent'useful idiots' who follow them.

Follow me here and put a smile on your face!

Those of us who have learned through direct experience or study of original sources, know how hard at work would-be and actual tyrants have been to develop more sophisticated, subtle and sinister means of separating us from truth. There is mountainous documentation of the lengths to which they have gone, and the successes they have achieved. But now, it's all unraveling. They are, like the Wizard of Oz, being exposed for the ugly, fatal frauds they are.

It goes all the way back to epistemology, i.e. theory of knowledge. We are all mind-driven, however occasionally misdirected. By that I mean our means of survival is between our ears. Our needs are met by the following ingredients:

1. Properly identifying conditions in reality, especially cause and effect.
2. Integrating our perceptions of those conditions with experience and accuracy.
3. Drawing the correct conclusions about how to respond to conditions.
4. Having the strength of character, and courage to act in concurrence with those conclusions, rendering the most likely life-friendly results. It's called "Truth." Not only does it set us free, it feeds us and our families...

In other words, "Do the right thing."

As simple as this sounds, as seemingly obvious to all common sense, we know most of our citizens haven't the slightest awareness of how important their minds are.

So how did liberty's foes get themselves into their mess? All kinds of old wisdom come to mind: "Live by the sword, die by the sword," for example.

They have been contorting and distorting truth for so long, it's second nature to them. They are self-programmed. In blue collar terms, they've reached the point where they 'believe their own BS.' And that's when their walls come down.

When lying, distortion and deception are a matter of rote, the bad guys forget that their shenanigans were meant for consumption by us. But the biggest consumers, over time, are themselves.

When this happens, a huge chasm opens, separating Evil from it's means of survival: it own mind. When Evil makes decisons built on its own false premises and lies, it begins reaping the harvest of ignorance, irrationality, and the unwillingness to confront its own narcissistic self-delusion. Simply put, Evil gets Stupid.

So when we see brash stupidity thrashing in our culture. Don't depair!! Evil is in its death throes.

Now I'm not sayin' this means "And we all lived happily ever after." We still have a major hangover to fight through from our own self-indulgence over decades. Plus, as noted at the top, our success will tend to bring us and future generations the same complacency, sense of entitlement and cultural rot that nearly destroyed us, as it has destroyed all civilizations and empires that preceded us.

This time, let's not forget, the punishment for our negligence will hopefully keep vigilance and responsibility front-of-mind. This time...
